Now that I have all the "work" done I can post wedding stuff.

So Thomas and I sent our guest list to his aunt yesterday. I hope that tomorrow she'll have in looked over and next weekend her and Thomas mom will go look at places. Right now we have 93 people, and 53 invitations. Of course I told her say  80 to 100 when going to places. And more then likely we'll buy 100 invitations, because you never know what can happen in 10ish months.

As everyone can see I added tags to the entrys. The tags are the persons name, so if you every wonder how far along that person is, or what there dress looks like now you have a way to see all the entries from that one person.

P.S. also just added the new members that weren't on there

I just want to say now for everyone to be able to read incase you don't all follow the comments on other posts. I was the same as the rest of you when I joined this community. Then I was asked if I would give a hand, all of a sudden I was the only one that was here watching over things.
~I did not take a layout/headings/information from anyone
~I had no clue about this because I don't check out other communities for weddings that don't involve when i'm getting married
~Did I start with swearing....YES I DID. I woke up this morning and I was one of the two people that had things being said about "one of the mods"...for taking ideas from a different community
~Do I feel bad for anything I said???? NO
~If there is that much of a problem, and people don't like the way i'm running things, please let me know and I'll be gone.

[ mood | worried ]

I'm having a really hard time dealing with the fact that the wedding is less than a year away, and I have barely anything done! No dress, no ceremony site, no reception site, no photography or DJ. I was never worried before because all of the wedding websites and books and stuff started their "planning timelines" a year.five from the date, and now I'm five days past that point. My FH is no help at all. What's a girl to do? :)

save the date cards!!! [
Posted on May 28, 2006 @ 11:14 pm

ive been looking for save the date magnets because it just seems so darn practical. but the only 2 sites ive come across are pretty ugly and in my opinion waaay over priced. i dont have a budget for my wedding so money isnt really an issue but i would feel ridiculous spending more on magnets than the actual invitations.

any one find any good sites for save the dates?

Co-worker invitations? [
Posted on May 28, 2006 @ 6:48 pm

When inviting your co-workers to your somewhat informal wedding, do you ask them all for their addresses to mail their invitations or do you hand them to them at work or leave a pile of name-addressed envelopes on the desk that everyone walks by???

Mo' Money, Mo' Problems? [
Posted on May 28, 2006 @ 5:21 pm

Yeah, right, I wish.

I just got into a psuedo-argument with my mom over the wedding. It wasn't really a full argument, but we both were looking at it from different sides. As it is, it looks like we're hosting most of the day at Josh's mom's house primarily for cost reasons, and also because its just a lot more intimate. But because my family is so big, they'd take up all the space themselves with no room for Josh's family or our friends. So I'd have to cut some of them out. But the problem is that we're a pretty tight-knit family and have big BBQs at least once a year - if I left any of them out it'd cause a huge strife and might cause most of them to not come in show of support of their brothers and/or sisters that got left out.

If I HAD money to host an event for all of them, I would definitely do it. But Josh and I are paying for this 100% by ourselves (well I guess 99% by ourselves, his mom gave us $100 for our new joint savings account for the wedding) - we both have single mothers, and fathers not likely to help either (Dear Dad, sorry I haven't been able to keep in touch the last 20 years, I couldn't hold a pen last time we met to write down your mailing address. Say could you help out with my wedding a bit? Maybe $5000? Thanks!). This wouldn't be too much of a problem, except that we've already paid about $10,000 towards tuition and fees for the last three years of university, and will be paying at least that much more since I have one year left and he has three, and we're morally allergic to loans since we can do it if we scrimp... but still, it'd be nice to have someone to ask for a little non-repayable help.

Reception meal? [
Posted on May 28, 2006 @ 5:41 am

FH and I had thought about serving guests our friend's catering food which would be Mexican street tacos with beans and rice. This would be set up casually as guests would order stright from the grill and get their chicken or carne asada tacos or quesadillas just they way they like. For 90 guests this would cost $900.

We are now considering serving only cake and punch for our lunch time wedding/reception. Serving cake and punch would help in giving us a short reception which we want. I also don't want guests to go hungry. I don't like that idea so much... but we could spend $900 and do so much more on our Honeymoon.

I'm thinking of sending our families out to lunch after the wedding so they won't starve. Especially since they will be traveling a good distance to be at the wedding. Of course, Groom and I will not be present, but it would be a nice, small family reunion and I think they would enjoy it. Hmmm just a thought.

I'm not sure what to do. Is anyone else planning on not serving a meal during their reception? Also, is anyone hopeing to have a short hour-long reception? Please share your ideas.

Save the Date samples [

I was just playing around in Photoshop today...

I refuse to call them STDsCollapse )

The first one is definitely "prettier" but probably a bit too formal for the kind of wedding I'm having. There's still something not quite right about the second one, I think its the font. I'll have to play with it later.

Do you and your fiance ever quarrel about the wedding budget??

Don't get me wrong, its not like I want to spend anything more than we can afford...well actually we can afford ANYTHING because my parents are paying for the entire thing!

I'm sure this has been asked before but...

How much is too much???

So, how do you keep going in your life? How can I get past all my wedding snafus and realize that there is more to my life than planning my wedding? I am having the hardest time finding a reception site right now. I had one, but they double booked us, then I changed my date for them, & then they considered us a hassle so they took someone else's deposit over ours. Then I found an awesome place, but I called them up and our date is booked already. They had our "change date" date, but I don't know. Now I'm looking for other places, but I'm starting to get worried that I'm running out of time. But I mean, 2007 is very far away. I have tons of other things in my life to focus on in day-to-day life. With my work, I am on a day-to-day basis(I'm a substitute teacher), and I am in serious need of a summer/second job. I also am in graduate school, so I have coursework to deal with for 4 terms next year, which is part of why September is better than a summer wedding for us. I just don't know what to do anymore. I'm also starting to get concerned over the possibility of some cosmic reason why I shouldn't get married on 09-08-07. This just seems like too many reasons not to. Also, is anyone here bing on astrology? I need to know when Retrograde Mercuries occur in 2007 so that we don't scedule the wedding during one. Thanks for any advice given. I'm just so frustrated at this point and at a loss as to what to do next.

Hmmm.... [

So, since the wedding is becoming so cheap, what with being so super-casual, I was thinking of splurging a little bit on some unique wedding favours. Since Josh and I have decided to go to Mexico, I was thinking of possibly going with this, maybe filling them with generic candy. Since we're likely inviting around 50 people, it'll probably be about $250.

Are any of you doing Programs. What do you think. My "wedding planner" doesn't like the idea, says they're a waste of money. She also thinks that the favors I want are to expensive. We'er going to do the custom printed M&Ms in little shoes with tags on them with our names and dates. She says the favors should only be about $1 to $2 a person and the M&Ms alone are $4 she says. She thinks that we need to keep looking.

What do you girls think.

we haven't even been engaged a week but my mind is racing with wedding ideas and planning. we're trying to figure out a theme for our wedding. i think if i have a theme, it'll help keep me on track when i think of ideas. i'm really hung up on the idea of having goldfish or bettas in bowls with pretty rocks or marbles as the center piece. i also want candles because, if you know me, i am candle obsessed. i was thinking of floating candles in the fish bowls. but i am not one to harm any kind of animal, i'm wondering if the wax would hurt the fish at all. and as for what to do with the fish after the wedding, i think giving them out as party favors (obviously we'd have an actual party favors, the fish would just be a bonus, because really, what are we going to do with a bunch of goldfish/bettas after the wedding?) this sounds really messy but i could assign one person to be in charge of gathering the fish and putting them in containers (also still to be determined, ideas?)

so any ideas or thoughts on this? thanks!
